Progress continues on the relocation of the Viridis 100% bio-based ethyl acetate plant, with key milestones reached in both Columbus, Nebraska, and Peoria, Illinois. Throughout the transition, both sites have operated safely and without any reportable chemical releases.

THIS is happening in Columbus

Disassembly work is essentially finished, and we are continuing efforts to ensure the site is safe and secure for the surrounding community after operations have fully ceased.

THIS is happening in Peoria

Assembly of the new Peoria plant is progressing steadily, with the main construction phase on track for completion in September. A key milestone was reached with the installation of the largest distillation tower – an important step in bringing the facility online. Major permitting is also advancing and is expected to be finalized ahead of process startup.

Hiring efforts are underway, with interviews taking place for local residents interested in joining the Viridis Peoria team. In August, planning for the site’s ISO 14001 environmental, health, and safety management system will begin, followed by comprehensive employee training to ensure alignment with the program’s standards.

As a reminder, this move positions Viridis next to BioUrja Renewables’ high-purity ethanol plant, allowing us to produce 100% biobased ethyl acetate more efficiently and sustainably.
